Happiest Place for a Cat is Home!
By: Alegra and Paloma
Many people take their cats away when they go on vacation which can be dangerous and upsetting for cats.
If you are going away for the weekend, please consider a cat sitter
rather than taking your cat by car, boat, train, or airplane. For one, cats find it stressful to be in cat carriers for any length of time and frequently get motion sickness when traveling. Also, cats are very environment-bound and curious; when they are not home they will want to explore their new space.
Going outside exposes them to predators, disease (FIV/FeLV), they can get lost, stolen, or hit by cars. They can end up in the municipal pound and, if lucky, adopted or rescued (as all our cats are). But what usually
happens is not a happy ever after ending. We would like to think that you are one of those wonderful cat owners who would never do anything to endanger your cat.
Thank you for NOT taking your cat on vacation or letting your cat go outside!!!
